December 2008: Make a Christmas bell

Evelyn B. Christensen

(The inner bell can be a choking hazard for children who still put things in their mouths, so it's best not to do this craft with children under 3.)

Jingle bellsMaterials:

• Paper cup
• Medium-large jingle bell
• Yarn (approximately 12 inches)
• Tape
• Aluminum foil, markers or Christmas stickers

1. Using the point of a pencil, make a small hole in the center of the bottom of the cup.
2. Put tape around one end of the yarn. Thread it through the jingle bell.
3. Hold both ends of the yarn together and put tape around them.
4. Push the taped end through the hole in the inside of the cup.
5. Tie a knot in the yarn to keep it from slipping back through the hole.
6. Wrap foil around the cup or decorate it with markers and/or stickers. (Note: Markers are not an option if the cup is waxed.)
7. Hold the yarn and ring your bell to celebrate Christmas!
